Busy morning at 38 Studios and Todd McFarlane’s in town visiting so I will post about tonights game at some point tomorrow. Needless to say the game was a bummer. I’ll take Paps in that situation 30 more times this year and like our chances.

No one is flawless, as Pap proved tonight, but we still love him! Watching you pitch tonight was awesome. You’ve got some NASTY pitches up your sleeve! I especially thought the slider was hoppin’ tonight. Amazing job to you and Okajima! Keep up the good fight!

Only the ending of the game was a bummer! And off days happen. That was just an unexpected turn around. It will be easily made up. Now, possibly we all need a down day, to breathe normally again after that amazing week when we created such a forum of ideas! Very exciting blog! Thoughts were bouncing in and out of minds all around the country. Or was it around the world? Great fun!

I left a message the other day but it was near the bottom and there were no responses. I was wondering if anyone out there reading this in Red Sox Nation and elsewhere would just put a quick “Hi” in the guestbook for my niece. She was diagnosed at 2 years old with Leukemia. She is 4 now and loves to have people write to her and have us read her the well-wishes. The post appears below as well as her website. Thank you so much!
“One last thing. Thanks for being such a promoter of all your causes (cancer, etc). In Jan 2006 my 2 yr old niece was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia on the same day my grandmother past away. We were actually at the funeral home making the arrangements when my sister received a call from the pediatrician that he had some results he needed to go over with her. Unfortunate ending to a very well pitched game. Gotta happen at some point right? Too bad it was following such a great start. You certainly set up the team to win— awesome performance tonight. You guys’ll get em next time.

I am surprised at the limited words the big man has to say today, this is so not like you Schill. Yes the game was a bummer, as they say, nobody’s perfect, and Paps is no exception. But to Schill, way to go, even though you weren’t lights out, you still were the star of the show, and I hope to see more great performances from you this year and down the road (and hopefully in the home jersey). Amazingly this comment is longer than the original post, have a great night everyone.

Seriously, as I blathered on the other section after the game, give Paps a big hug for all of us. As you say, no one is perfect. So far, Paps has been very phenomenal and JUST the closer the team has needed. Another good middle relief for Okajima as well.

No doubt man. Everyone blows saves sometimes. He did a great job of bouncing back last year, and I expect the same this year. As long as Tek stays healthy … take care of your captain!

I agree with you, Paps will save about 30-40 more games this season. I’m wearing his shirt today to show support for him.

its no big deal about pap. i mean everyone has to make mistakes sometimes, or else they wouldnt be human. last night pap proved that he was human. also we have to lose some sometimes. just look at it this was if we win 90-100 games this season you still have to lose 62-72 others. and those losses have to come somewhere, right?

Curt, you did a great job on the hill tonight (or so the numbers suggest). Although, as a pitcher, I know it doesn’t always feel that way, and it is tempting to see only the faults especially when the game gets lost (the classic case of you’re-your-own-worst-critic).
Anyway, as someone who roots for the second best team in red also, I’d like to know – When a tragedy happens such that of Hancock, Lidle, and Kile, does the impact of their deaths truly “hit hard” among the other MLB teams, or is it felt simply as a solemn, unfortunate accident? Is there a different attitude in the clubhouse, or does it sometimes appear to be just another topic of interest among teammates, which sadly often happens?

curt ,great game sorry about the no decision ,but as you said the law of averages on your side whith paps covering your back,just glad to see you continue to be on your a game its quite evident to me your going to have a great season this year ,iheard taveras responded to reporters redsox do not need roger clemens , i understand his pride in his teamates and really like his pitching and spunk for us this year , but do you think roger could put redsox over the top like randy moss could for pats ??????? again good luck this year go redsox pats capecod

I hope you can take some time to write about game development. Obviously most people here are more interested in baseball but there are some game design nerds visiting the blog!

I was at this game, after the start of the game I figured it was going to be a blow out. Schill had some great stuff and the bats came out hot. But those A’s hung around, definately weird to see Piazza in the Oakland A’s green and gold. Found out at the game that the vendors below take credit cards this was after a 35 minute wait for the ATM machine would of been nice to know in advance thats for sure. Has anyone else noticed how grouchy the older ushers are at Fenway, for the second year in a row they continue to yell at paying fans (fans who are paying an arm and a leg to be at the game, hey my fiance yells at me for no charge), it seems that the younger the fans the nastier they are, maybe Fenway Park should look into this definately doesn’t go with the “Friendly Fenway” advertisments. Back to the game Coco disappointed the Fenway faithful again at the dish in the bottom of the 9th although his glove continues to drop jaws. Tough night overall but you can’t win them all.

Hi Curt, I have been a huge Red Sox fan since 2003 when I started watching the games again after not watching since the 70’s. But now I watch every
game. Probably a dumb questions but I don’t know the significance of
38 Pitches. Can you enlighten? I enjoy the blog. Aside from baseball, I read
in an earlier blog that Todd McFarlane was in town & you are working with
him on 38 Studios. My son is the manager of a comic book store in
Milford, MA, he is a comic book fan & has followed Todd’s career from Spiderman, etc. through Spawn (he has everyone) . Anyway, his store is also
involved with video games, I’m sure they’d be happy to advertise for you
through their network. If Todd’s ever in town again, my son would love to meet him(we live in Millis). If your kids like comics at all, they should check
out his store, T.J. Collectibles in Milford. I am so impressed with all th e
good works that you and your family are involved in. Good luck to you

My wife has ben diagnosed with ALS a couple of years ago and is an avid Red Sox Fan.

Read about your interest in WWll in the Globe. My husband and I took our kids to Normandy when our son was 18 and daughter was 13. We told her it was a shopping/WWll trip so she wouldn’t object. The night before our trip, we watched Private Ryan. The 13 year old forgot all about shopping. History came to life for her while standing on the beach at Normandy. It is a trip your family will love and remember forever. Get a private tour guide while in Normandy. Stay at a chateau. Tie it in with London and visit Churchill’s war rooms and secret bunker.
