1 1/2 game lead. Is it panic time yet? At what point do you resort to the ketchup on the ankle/sock again? Looking forward to seeing you in the playoffs though, it's always fun.

Well Brother Curt,

It has been a wild ride this season and appears the Sox may not make the playoffs if they continue melting like a freaking snowman in the middle of July. It was fun to watch the lead go to 14.5 games over the Evil Empire, but is now turning into what makes the BoSox the team we love to stand by most as they flounder and sink into the abyss. Thank God it is only a game and we can look forward to another Patriot Super Bowl ring. Have a great off season and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the organization brings you back next year. Oh, and if by some bizarre change of events the Sox make the playoffs and even the World Series, congratulations. It would be a beautiful thing, only better than the Yankees losing in the playoffs or World Series. :)

Curt,

I would by lying if I said that I wasn't a little nervous. Our lead is down to 2 1/2 games over the Yankee's. I pray that we can beat Toronto tonight. I know that we play Tampa Bay over the weekend and finish up with the Twins but it is getting down to the wire and considering that we have been in first place all season I would hate to see us fall out right at the end. You guys have been great all season and it has been great following you on your blog. Good Luck going into the last week of the season and I pray that we are celebrating the post season.

Hi, Curt,

Like everyone else, I am getting nervous about exactly where this will all end up, but I believe in you guys and have thoroughly enjoyed watching from spring training until tonight at 7:05!! This team has the talent, now if we can get it all clicking at the same time....

You were born for big games and it is great to see you looking so healthy again and pitching great.

As much as on the field, we need you off the field, motivating and spreading your enthusiasm, experience and wisdom around the clubhouse.

You are just the best and love your blog. Thank you for taking the time to explain your thinking. I will truly miss it during winter break.

BEST of luck and God bless, let's go get 'em, no curses, no nonsense, just playing great ball and believing in destiny....

Is it just me or does it not seem like there is no fire or sense of urgency to the team right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sox fan to the core and have been for 30+ years. I know that we still have the best record in baseball and if the season ended today, we'd be in line for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. It just seems like the team is in coast mode preparing for the playoffs. Another week like the last 4 days and there won't be any post-season to worry about. I remember 78 and I don't ever want to see that again. Let's hope the next week brings a new sense of urgency to the team to wrap up their post season berth so that they can get some much needed rest before October baseball starts. I for one can't wait for the playoffs, but only if the Sox are still there in a couple of weeks.

Hey Curty -

Nothing more enjoyable then watching the sox lose another one. So what were you thinking when Jeter hit that homer? Who forced who into retirement? Clemens did his job! When was the last time you beat the Yankees? Isn't that what you came to the Sox to do? Boy, what a MasterCard commericial this would be...

Two tickets to the Yankees-Sox game - $70

Seeing Clemens One Hit The Red Sox - $28 Million

Seeing Schilling Cry on National TV - PRICELESS!

Hey, keep up the great work of losing games... The way I figure it, you'll have about 3 more starts before the playoffs... Just enough for the Yankees to take back their first place finish in the east!

Yeeeehaaaa!

Hey - thanks for a memorable season... It kinda reminds me of the one back in '77 - Remember the Boston Massacre?

Great pitching on Sunday. I was really happy to hear you pitching solidly and efficiently. I certainly had a smile on my face all the way until Jeter wiped it off in the 8th. It's too bad that a single mistake can make such an impact in the game, but everyone agrees that you pitched beautifully so don't let it get to you. I feel like your pitching has really been decent lately, and you have just been getting the short end of the stick on the luck side of things. Just keep your chin up, continue to use all your pitches and of course, continue to work on keeping yourself from hanging splitters! You're going to be superb in October, I can feel it.
