What about bin Laden? Curt, love you as a pitcher and as a competitor but patriotism isn’t just about fighting and winning wars….especially wars fought for financial gain. If you disagree, fine. But of the 19 hijackers none, I repeat none, where from Iraq. With the housing crisis, record job cuts in Feb and the dollar at an all time low it would be nice if we could focus on American issues. Voting for McCain is like voting for another term of Bush. This war has cost us a trillion dollars and I cant see spending another trillion to 'disarm militia'. Our 8 year old son has been given an assignment to write/present a report about a “famous” baseball player–guess who his player is? You got it–you!

Is there anyway you could send him a letter or something–just to add a little extra touch..just something indicating that he took some time to find out about you and all your great causes other than baseball! If you can’t no big deal we totally understand! President Bush (I'll give him his proper title, even though you simply called our fine former president "Clinton") allowed the Iraqis (read: the Shiite Majority) to draft their own constitution, something that was not allowed of the Germans and Japanese. When you have just gone through what they have been through under Sadam you are not thinking clearly about the need to build a better future for all--you are often thinking about revenge. That constitution was designed to benefit the Shiites at the expense of the Sunnis, down to the distribution of oil revenue. It was bound to provoke and prolong a civil war. When you defend a nation, you are defending their consitution and the constitutional basis for their state. The Iraqi consitution is not worth defending IMO. I admit that withdrawal is not the perfect answer either. There are no good solutions here, just the least bad one. It is often hard to figure out what that is. My brother, who I love dearly, planned a trip of a life time for me and 11 of my best friends. It was my batchelor party which was supposed to be taking place in Fort Myers this weekend, March 14-16. Unfortunately, my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 22 months ago. On thursday morning, he was ambulanced to the hosptial and placed in the ICU. He's not doing so well right now. I even wore a "hope is a good thing" t-shirt yesterday with a picture the blood sock. We even had tickets to this afternoons game vs. Cincinnatti at City of Palms park! We canceled the trip. This is the hardest thing I've ever gone through in my life. I'm almost ashamed to say that one of the only bright spots in my day yesterday was obviously seeing my grandmother fly in, but also seeing the Sox beat the Orioloes 7-4 last night. I know it's an exhibition game, but every win helps me. It brings a shine of light to a very gloomy period in my life. The Red Sox organization was extremely gracious in refunding our "non-refundable" tickets for the game in Fort Myers. I will always appreciate that. I'm hoping to be able to reschedule my trip for boston now, but obviously, tickets are hard to come by and really not affordable for a medical student. In what's probably the hardest time in my life, the Red Sox are there. They're there to pick you up, they're there to let you know you're still alive. No matter what happens, I know they'll be there for me, even though they don't know me. I simply wanted to let the organization know how much they mean to me and my mother (who made me a Sox fan!).
